Momentum Coffee is a Black-owned and women-owned coffee company founded in 2019 by Nikki Bravo and Tracy Powell, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to using coffee as a catalyst for positive change in Chicago's communities. What began as a vision for a coworking space evolved into a network of community-focused coffee shops, with the first location opening in the South Loop in May 2020 during the pandemic. The company holds the distinction of being the first Black-owned and operated coffee shop in Millennium Park.

Momentum Coffee operates multiple locations across Chicago, including the South Loop, Millennium Park, North Lawndale, Englewood, Austin, and a forthcoming location at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Each shop serves as more than just a café—they function as community hubs offering premium coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and a welcoming atmosphere for gathering and coworking. The company sources locally roasted beans and offers signature drinks alongside a menu of breakfast and lunch items.

Beyond coffee, Momentum Coffee is deeply committed to community development in under-resourced neighbourhoods. The company partners with organisations like BUILD Chicago and E.G. Woode to create spaces that drive economic growth and social cohesion. In 2024, they launched a City of Chicago-funded early-stage food incubator program, offering workshops, mentorship, and resources to aspiring food entrepreneurs from underserved communities. The company also provides apprenticeship opportunities, training employees in all aspects of food business operations with the goal of developing future managers and owners.

Momentum Coffee is certified as an MBE (Minority Business Enterprise), WBE (Women Business Enterprise), and ACDBE (Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise). With a mission "rooted in community and powered by coffee", the company continues to expand its impact, roasting its own Kinetic Blend beans that highlight women farmers in Tanzania and creating spaces where coffee serves as a bridge to opportunity.
