Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization and community wellness initiative dedicated to normalizing conversations around mental health, particularly within underserved communities. Founded in 2019 by Christopher LeMark, the organization combines culture, creativity, and care to break down the stigma surrounding therapy and emotional well-being.

At the heart of the organization is its “Normalize Therapy Café,” a hybrid coffee shop and safe space where visitors can enjoy beverages while engaging in meaningful conversations, creative expression, and mental health programming. The café serves as both a fundraising engine and a community hub, with proceeds helping to provide free therapy sessions for individuals facing financial barriers.

The organization offers a wide range of services and experiences, including individual and group therapy, healing circles, wellness workshops, open mic nights, and community events that integrate music, art, and storytelling. Hip-hop culture plays a central role in its identity, acting as a bridge that connects people to healing in a familiar and culturally relevant way.

Through its programs, Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health has supported thousands of participants and raised significant funds to expand access to mental health resources. Its model blends social enterprise with advocacy, using coffee sales, merchandise, and donations to sustain its mission of making therapy more accessible and culturally inclusive.

More than a café or nonprofit, Coffee, Hip-Hop & Mental Health is a movement—one that transforms everyday spaces into platforms for healing, turning conversations over coffee into catalysts for emotional growth, resilience, and community empowerment.
